Wet and cold weekend in Destin

So much for a nice weekend. I thought I had moved back to the frozen north. Thursday started the downturn. When I left work it was overcast and windy. A wreak at the bottom of Brooks Bridge made traffic a mess in Fort Walton Beach. I made my way on the back roads over to Props Brew Pub to ride it out. Props is right at Brooks Bridge so I could see when the traffic was moving again. I had a couple of their original brewed IPA beer. It was very good. It is something I will have again.

We were not having beer at The Cantina Friday due to the weather

As I headed home with the wreak cleared up, a mist was starting to fall. Reports were for heavy rain all night but stopping about noon on Friday. I hoped so as we had our “Embrace the Chaos! Trop Rock Music Series at the Cantina” show Friday night. They were right about the rain starting. It was on and off hard rain all night and morning. I was checking the radar in the morning but it was not moving out fast. I left work about 1 pm and it was still pouring but a break was coming. The break didn’t come till after 3 pm. We had to cancel the show for the night as a cold wind came in behind the rain.

Without a Trop Rock party Friday night, I decided to go to the harbor to watch the Tampa hockey game. Sunshine Cindy was getting food ready for Easter and didn’t join us. Wayne joined me at Harry T’s. A good crowd of tourist came and went. Barry and Sami came in and sat next to us. They had just got off work and they were relaxing too. Chris was behind the bar. He did a great job keeping everyone in drinks. Unfortunately the game did not go Tampa’s way. Actually they stunk. A shutout. At least the beer was cold! LOL

Saturday was spent around the house. The weather was windy and cool. We had a guy come out to pressure wash the house and driveway. Rust stains from the sprinkler was bad and it was time to get it cleaned up. He did a fantastic job. It looks good as new. We had some Alabama Parrot Head friends in town that we met Saturday night. We met them at Sago Sports bar. Leigh and Keith are good friends that we have partied with for years. It was a fun evening catching up with them.

Easter Sunday was spent at home with Sunshine Cindy’s parents and daughter. The temps never got above 60 degrees with a strong breeze. Ugh! We cooked a ham that that turned out excellent. Of course we had a ton of other food. All of it was very good. We broke out the Margaritaville Margarita machine for some homemade drinks. Needless to say they were great! After everyone left we cleaned up and then vegged out watching some TV.

Keith is in the banking business. He confirmed to me Lucy Buffett is going to build a new place in Destin on the bay side just like I had heard. No time line yet on when construction will start or if it will be another Lulu's. He also heard a brew pub was in the planning stages for the harbor. It sounds like this will be a big undertaking if it happens. He thinks it will. Destin continues to grow in leaps and bounds.

Have a great week. See ya Thursday!
