Fun Weekend…

Sunshine Cindy and I were on the go the entire weekend. The weather was great allowing us to enjoy some great Spring days. It started on Thursday night. We made a trip to Emerald Lady Jewelry Store to pick out my wedding ring. We found a nice one and got it on order. It should be in by the end of this week.

Coconut Radio at The Crust Pizzeria

From there we stopped at Millers Ale House for some dinner. Miller’s always has some good specials. Thursday’s they have buckets of Bud Light for $8.95. What a deal. We sat at the bar, had some food and a few drinks while watching some of the hockey game that was on. We noticed a guy across the bar with a Key West MOTM tee shirt on. Sunshine talked to him. He was a Parrot Head from Atlanta down here in Destin on vacation. We see Parrot Heads everywhere!

Sandy at Harbor Gifts

Friday was my off day. Sunshine Cindy and her Mom went looking for dresses for her Mom. I went down to the harbor to take some tee shirts to Harbor Gifts to refill some they had sold. My first stop was at The Crust Pizzeria to see if Charley and Brenda were ready for the Parrot Head meeting that night. It looked like everything was ready. They were excited having the PH’s there. I walked down the hill and stopped at the Marler Charter Boat booking booth. Matt was working. I talked to him for a while. I then walked over to Harbor Gifts. Sandy was there. We got them restocked. Sandy and I talked for a while about the harbor as we were enjoying the warm sunny day.

I headed home. Sunshine Cindy and I headed to The Crust a little early. Everything was ready for a fun evening. They had several servers making sure everyone had the drinks they wanted. Charley was manning the bar and he was very busy. Alan took care of us. Turns out Alan is actually one of the stilt walkers at Margaritaville. He was making balloons all night as well as making sure everyone had drinks. Coconut Radio performed for us. We had about 100 folks show up. Charley and Brenda put out a fantastic spread of food too. Pizza, Pasta, Ravioli’s…and they kept it coming.

Kelly getting some Key Lime Pie

As the night wore down, Charley came and sat with us. He appreciated all that Sunshine Cindy and I did to help him prepare for the night. He brought over some Fireball for us to celebrate with. Judie, Kelly, Wayne and Suzanne were all with us as the last Parrot Heads standing.

Saturday was a different kind of day for us. Parrot Head Rendezvous was going on in Panama City Beach. We usually register for this event but with the upcoming wedding we decided to only go on Saturday. Well, Saturday was also Sunshine Cindy’s birthday. Her family wanted her to stay home and celebrate. We compromised. I went to PCB, she partied with her family and we would go out on Sunday. I wanted to make an appearance at Rendezvous. We have a lot of friends that were there who we have not seen in a while. This was a good chance to catch up with them.

Rendezvous on the beach

I got to the beach about noon. It was a perfect day weather wise. About 500 Parrot Heads were there on the beach having a blast. I ran into so many friends that I can’t start to name them all. Some great music was being played and many boat drinks were consumed. A special thanks to Julie, Jan and Loujean for letting me join them at their tent. I headed home about 8 pm wore out from the sun.

Meanwhile Sunshine Cindy and her daughter Tiffany went to McGuire’s for dinner. They then went down to the harbor. First stop was Harry T’s. From there they went to Crab Island Cantina, Fishheads, AJ’s and The Boathouse. They ran into friends every step of the way.

Beach stage

Sunday was another nice day in paradise. Sunshine Cindy and I went to Harry T’s for brunch. As we waited for a table we sat at the outside bar and talked to our Bartender of the Month, Michelle. She was working the bar. Michelle told us how thrilled she was to be named the Bartender of the Month in the Crab Island Mambo Mullet Wrapper. She was very deserving. You can read about Michelle here: http://www.crabislandmambo.com/Mullet-Wrapper-April-2014-edition.html

Time to go in and get seated. A great sea breeze was blowing in the salt air making for an enjoyable brunch. They do a good job with their brunch. From there we stopped at Crab Island Cantina. Greg was working the bar. We got to talking to some locals across the bar. They were enjoying the nice day too. We then walked down to Fishheads. Al was playing the sax. Owners Melissa and Tom were there. Melissa wanted us to try a new appetizer they will be selling. It was a smoked fish dip that was great. That will be a big hit for sure. Melissa and Tom are good people who will have a great summer season. They are right under the west end zip line tower.

Melissa of Fishheads on the harbor

We saw Matt and talked to him for a bit then also talked to Sandy at Harbor Gifts. We can’t be down there and not say hi! We made one more stop. We went to Margaritaville’s Chill Bar. Old friend Steve was working the bar. It was not too busy so we got to talk to Steve a little. He was getting off shortly and heading to work at Fud’s on the island. They had a volleyball tournament. He was looking forward to waiting on tall, good looking women! LOL We finally called it a day and headed home to get ready for the upcoming week. Sunshine Cindy enjoyed her birthday weekend!!!

Have a great week. See ya on Thursday!

Destin is Paradise

It’s this time of the year where the weather is perfect making Destin a paradise to live in. Day time temps are about 80 with lows in the mid 60’s. The top is down on Badass and it can stay down!

Sunshine Cindy and I got out a few times this week. Julie had some friends in town staying with her. Tim and Nancy from Tennessee and Dean from Louisiana are here. They have all became friends of ours too. Tuesday night we met them at The Boathouse. They wanted some oysters and the Boathouse has the best. We had a great time. Howling Jack was singing, Tara took good care of us and a big crowd was inside enjoying the salt air. It was a fun evening catching up with all of them.

Julie and Dean at The Boathouse

Wednesday night Sunshine Cindy and I went to Landshark Pizza. We wanted to catch up with “B” to make sure he is able to get us the cups and napkins for our wedding. When we walked in most of the tables were full but the bar was empty. Glen and Brian were at a table. Bruce came in and BS’d with us then he also joined Glen and Brian. About 15 minutes after we got there the bar packed out and the place was jumping. It got so busy Brian had to go back and help out cooking.

Howling Jack

Wednesday’s is wing night at Landshark. Jason was making big batches of wings as they were selling like hot cakes. A lot of pizza’s were also being made as so many people were there they ran out of places to sit. They ended up selling over 1000 wings. Wow! We hung out with B for the night. He is taking care of us and we thanked him profusely. It’s great having good friends! Other folks came and went. James and Jonelle stopped in. Jonelle showed off some pictures of a big Cobia she caught earlier in the day. I think it was about 50 pounds. A great fish. It was a fun time at Landshark.

Speaking of fish….the last several weeks have seen a big increase of huge Mako Sharks being caught in the waters off of Destin. There have been several in the 600 to 800 pound range brought in. A couple of guys in Nararre were on the beach and caught a 805 pound Mako the other day. Many of these sharks are only a couple of hundred yards off the beach. They are there all the time but almost never bother humans. The theory is the sharks are following the Cobia. Makes sense.

Mako Shark

We also had a pod of Manatee’s swim through Destin the other day. We don’t get a lot of Manatee’s in our area but they do come through once in a while. Seeing a whole pod is unusual. I have had the chance to see them in the waters around Destin a few times and I had an up close look at one in Key West last year. They are a gentle and awesome creature.

I received some news about a couple of new additions to the Destin Commons expansion. The World of Beer will be opening a new place by the middle of summer. They will have a full kitchen and live music. Next door to the World of Beer will be a place called, The Blend. This will be a liquor bar serving all types of high end liquors. They plan to open about the same time. This will be a nice addition to the Destin scene.

Manatee in Key West

Also this week I was able to confirm Lucy Buffett’s “Lulu’s” has actually started construction. It is going to be next to Legendary Marine at the base of the Mid-Bay bridge. I have been told the foundation is poured and the building will start to come out of the ground soon. Grand opening is planned for February 2015. It is going to be a big place from all accounts.

Lulu's in Gulf Shores, AL

This will be a busy weekend. Thursday is fireworks on the harbor and the first Mattie Kelly concert. Friday the ECPHC meets at The Crust Pizzeria on the harbor for our monthly meeting. Coconut Radio will be the playing music. It will be a fun time. All weekend is the PCPHC’s Rendezvous on the beach in Panama City. We will be there Saturday to see all of our Trop Rock friends. Saturday is also Sunshine Cindy’s birthday. We will be celebrating all weekend!!!

Have a great weekend and I will see ya Monday with a full recap of the fun along the Emerald Coast!

Wet and cold weekend in Destin

So much for a nice weekend. I thought I had moved back to the frozen north. Thursday started the downturn. When I left work it was overcast and windy. A wreak at the bottom of Brooks Bridge made traffic a mess in Fort Walton Beach. I made my way on the back roads over to Props Brew Pub to ride it out. Props is right at Brooks Bridge so I could see when the traffic was moving again. I had a couple of their original brewed IPA beer. It was very good. It is something I will have again.

We were not having beer at The Cantina Friday due to the weather

As I headed home with the wreak cleared up, a mist was starting to fall. Reports were for heavy rain all night but stopping about noon on Friday. I hoped so as we had our “Embrace the Chaos! Trop Rock Music Series at the Cantina” show Friday night. They were right about the rain starting. It was on and off hard rain all night and morning. I was checking the radar in the morning but it was not moving out fast. I left work about 1 pm and it was still pouring but a break was coming. The break didn’t come till after 3 pm. We had to cancel the show for the night as a cold wind came in behind the rain.

Without a Trop Rock party Friday night, I decided to go to the harbor to watch the Tampa hockey game. Sunshine Cindy was getting food ready for Easter and didn’t join us. Wayne joined me at Harry T’s. A good crowd of tourist came and went. Barry and Sami came in and sat next to us. They had just got off work and they were relaxing too. Chris was behind the bar. He did a great job keeping everyone in drinks. Unfortunately the game did not go Tampa’s way. Actually they stunk. A shutout. At least the beer was cold! LOL

View from Harry T's

Saturday was spent around the house. The weather was windy and cool. We had a guy come out to pressure wash the house and driveway. Rust stains from the sprinkler was bad and it was time to get it cleaned up. He did a fantastic job. It looks good as new. We had some Alabama Parrot Head friends in town that we met Saturday night. We met them at Sago Sports bar. Leigh and Keith are good friends that we have partied with for years. It was a fun evening catching up with them.

Easter Sunday was spent at home with Sunshine Cindy’s parents and daughter. The temps never got above 60 degrees with a strong breeze. Ugh! We cooked a ham that that turned out excellent. Of course we had a ton of other food. All of it was very good. We broke out the Margaritaville Margarita machine for some homemade drinks. Needless to say they were great! After everyone left we cleaned up and then vegged out watching some TV.

Margaritaville casino Biloxi

Keith is in the banking business. He confirmed to me Lucy Buffett is going to build a new place in Destin on the bay side just like I had heard. No time line yet on when construction will start or if it will be another Lulu's. He also heard a brew pub was in the planning stages for the harbor. It sounds like this will be a big undertaking if it happens. He thinks it will. Destin continues to grow in leaps and bounds.

Have a great week. See ya Thursday!

Destin Harbor Tour

Let’s take a tour along the Destin harbor today. But before we do it turns out the storm we had blow through Destin on Sunday night and Monday morning did some damage on Crab Island. Crab Island Mike had just set up his barges for the upcoming season. As I drove over the Destin bridge on Monday morning I could see the barges were almost sunk. Sorry to say Mike lost his entire kitchen. He hopes to rebuild and be open by Memorial weekend. Okay, on to the tour…

We will start at the building at the far west end of Harborwalk Village. La Familia Italian restaurant occupies the upper location of the building while Crab Island Cantina is in the lower level. Both places are locally owned with great food and views. As everyone knows Crab Island Mambo does a lot of cross promotions with The Cantina.

As you start to head east along the pedestrian walkway the Emerald Grande is on your left. The street level has many different shops including Jesters. East Pass and the harbor are on your right making a great backdrop. Harry T’s is the next entertainment complex you come upon. This two story building is also locally owned and operated. Continuing the walk you come upon Jackacuda’s. This is a new owner for this prime spot. Behind Jackacuda’s is where many charter boats and dolphin cruise’s leave from. The Seablaster and Pirate Cruise all are docked in this area.

Next up is the outdoor concert area of Harborwalk Village. As you walk past that the new Margaritaville looms large right in front of you. This three story building has something for everyone. Past Margaritaville is what I call the “carnival” area. The zip line towers over this stretch. On the ground level is kids games and carnival type food trucks. This is also the start of the main Charter Boat docking area. Under the east zip line tower is Fishheads. This is a nice little beer and wine place.

Destin Margaritaville

Now you start to get to places that book the fishing trips. There are more shops here including Harbor Gifts which carries Crab Island Mambo stuff. If you want to stop for another beer, the Shark Shack is a good place to do that. Let’s take a quick detour up the hill. Here you will find Coyote Ugly. Next to Coyote Ugly is The Crust Pizzeria. Home of some of the best pizza in town. Back down on the harbor we come to AJ’s. This is one of the top 50 clubs in the country based on sales volume. It’s right up there with places in Vegas and Miami.

Continuing east we pass Galati Yachts. If you have a spare million you can get you a nice boat! Here comes a vacant lot where Tipsy Turtle used to sit. A new O’Quigley place is being built here. Tim at Blue Heron water sports will have a new neighbor. Here comes Dewey Destin’s seafood house then Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant. More charter boats are docked here too. If any big fish are caught they come here to use the big scales in front of Fisherman’s Wharf.

Tipsy Turtle...RIP

Up next is Coach’s. It’s a new place that has a raw bar and live music. The Boathouse Oyster Bar is the next stop for a cold beer and some good food. Next to The Boathouse is Dockside. Up the hill is the Red Door Saloon and the original La Familia’s that is still open. Back down at water level is the Monkey Bar and a burrito stand for the late night munchies. Finally as you keep going are more charter fishing boats and water sport rental places. Just before you get to the Destin Yacht Club building is a small place in the trees. I have never been there but will make it there soon.

I hope you enjoyed your trip along the Destin Harbor!

Sunshine Cindy and Gene Mitchell

Join Crab Island Mambo Friday night at The Cantina for our second installment of the “Embrace the Chaos! Trop Rock Music Series at The Cantina.” Gene Mitchell will be supplying the entertainment starting at 5 pm. Be sure to ask for your “Mambo Member” card to get 15% off your entire bill the night of the show. We hope to see everyone at The Cantina Friday night.

I also published the Crab Island Mambo Mullet Wrapper newsletter this week. You can read it here! http://www.crabislandmambo.com/Mullet-Wrapper-April-2014-edition.html

Have a great Easter weekend. See ya Monday!

Another weekend in paradise

We had great weather this weekend. These are the days we love living here. It started Thursday night when Sunshine Cindy and I went to Sago Sports Bar to relax a little. The college hockey frozen four was on the TV’s as we sat at the bar. Shannon was working the bar. Tommy was there too. We had a fun time at Sago as always. With $2 drafts on Thursday and their usual good food, you can’t go wrong. We also heard the Ron Adams show on Wednesday was a big success as they had a full house.

Harry T's

Friday was a Parrot Head meeting night on the harbor. Sunshine Cindy and I got down to the harbor early and parked by the Boathouse then walked down to Harry T’s. We made a stop at the Shark Shack and Harbor Gifts. Sandy was at Harbor Gifts and had our Mambo shirts out on display. James and Bruce were at the Shark Shack. We talked to them for a while then headed to Harry T’s. Harry T’s was giving the PH’s free beer. It was green beer but it was free! Actually Sunshine Cindy and I didn’t have any of it. For some reason it did not look appealing. LOL

A big crowd was there for the fun. A different duo was singing. We had not heard them before but they were good. Their name escapes me but I hope they are invited back. As this party was winding down a group decided to head to the Boathouse. Sunshine Cindy and I got down to the street level and saw some old neighbors of Sunshine Cindy’s sitting at Dave’s Dogs bar. Dave’s Dogs is now owned by Harry T’s. We also saw Michelle working this bar. I was glad to see this as Michelle is the April Mambo Bartender of the Month but I needed some pictures. Mission accomplished!

Ejay and Tom

At the Boathouse the place was packed. Jason Clark was singing. It took a while but we were able to eventually get a couple of tables for everyone to sit at. We had some Parrot Head friends from out of town join us. Tom and Ejay were passing through town. Wayne brought them to the Boathouse. I last saw them in Put in Bay last June. They are great people. Originally from the Cleveland area they are now traveling around in an RV. It was nice seeing them and letting them get a glimpse of Destin!

Some of the folks left to head to KC’s Sandbar in Ft. Walton Beach to hear the Michael Allman band. Michael is the son of Gregg Allman. They packed KC’s. Good for them. Meanwhile back at the Boathouse Jason kept the crowd going. He even had Austin Jennings do a song as Austin stopped in for a while. Austin has a great voice and is playing all over Destin now. Finally it was time to head home to wind down the night.

 Wayne and Sunshine Cindy

Saturday was a laid back day. Sunshine Cindy went shopping while I fine tuned the Crab Island Mambo Mullet Wrapper newsletter. I will be publishing later tonight. We had a surprise party to go to later. The surprise was on us! I was told we had to be at a friend’s house at 6:15 pm and don’t tell Sunshine Cindy anything about it. It turns out our friends had a surprise wedding shower party planned. We were blown away when we pulled up and about 30 of our closest friends were there. Wow! It was a fun evening of food and drinks. We can’t thank our friends enough! We love them all!!!

Sunday was another perfect day. The top was down on Badass. We met Sunshine Cindy’s parents for lunch at Friday’s. From there we went to the harbor. Wayne joined us. We made a first stop at Crab Island Cantina. Judy told us about a big party they had the night before. It was a bunch of college students from Louisiana. She said they were well behaved and had a good time. We then stopped at Jackacuda’s sitting on their new outside deck.

Harbor Gifts new coasters with Destin landmarks on them

Our next stop was Fishheads. Melisa was working. She is the co-owner and a real nice lady. She told us about the night before when some guy was tripping out thinking he was hearing voices or something. Security was called to take care of him. Matt came up behind me grabbing me. He saw us walking up to Fishheads as he works in the building next door booking fishing charters. From there we walked to the Shark Shack. Becca was working the bar. Sandy came over from Harbor Gifts to join us for a while. Matt came over here too and had us all cracking up with his jokes.

Becca and a puppy at Shark Shack

We got to talking about one of the local homeless drunks, Red Dog. Matt talked about the time a one legged guy beat the crap out of Red Dog pummeling him with his fake leg. Matt can turn any story into something that will have you rolling in laughter. Finally we decided to make one more stop at Landshark Pizza for some food. Jason, Austin and Sue were working. Brian was there with Pops and Tommy watching the end of the Masters. After some good food it was time to head home and end another Sunday Funday!

Have a great week. See ya Thursday!!!

Destin spring

It’s about time Spring is making its way to Destin. Mid 70’s during the day makes it pretty nice to be here on the coast. We will take it.

This week we made one stop after work. Monday I went to Landshark Pizza for a while. Some of the usual locals were there. Pops and Jenny were there. Turtle and Ashley had a baby girl earlier that day. Everyone is doing fine. Brian’s brother Greg was there too. He was supposed to be on his way back home to Wisconsin but when he got to the airport he was told he was bumped to a flight the next morning. He didn’t get any message or notice about this. It was US Air. Thankfully I never fly them. They did tell him they won’t charge him the rebooking fee! The rebooking they did without his knowledge. That was nice of them….

Greg at the Boathouse!

Down on the harbor plans for the new establishment where Aloha and Tipsy Turtle were located are moving forward. Johnny Fuller from the O’Quigley’s fame is building a big place pretty much like I heard it would be. I think the same architect that designed the new Margaritaville is also designing this building. It will be three stories with a bar on the lowest boardwalk level. The mid level will be a restaurant and the top level which will be the same level as Hwy 98 will be a club of some type. Once again I wonder where everyone will park to fill up all these places.

The old Freaki Tiki bar down by the Boathouse is now open as Coach’s Raw Bar. They have had live music on the weekends with the same general layout as previously. It’s another place to keep the harbor on the east end jumping.

The old Freakie Tiki on the harbor

Wendy’s Kitchen is serving to-go meals from the Beal’s shopping center near Wal-Mart. They have a different selection each day. We will be checking them out soon.

Crab Island Mambo tee shirts, tank tops and some long sleeve shirts are available. The tanks and tee’s are perfect for the warmer weather we are having. “Embrace the Chaos!” with your own American Made shirts from Crab Island Mambo. Don’t forget that Harbor Gifts on the boardwalk is also carrying our shirts. Stop by there to see Tom and Sandy!

Have a great week. See ya Monday!

No Rest in Destin…

Sunshine Cindy and I are pretty much on the go all the time. This weekend was no different. I already talked about Thursday night at Juana’s Pagoda in Navarre partying with our friends and the Southern Drawl Band. That was a good time with the guys from Knoxville!

Friday was a day to get more of the wedding details taken care of. Sunshine Cindy and I had a meeting scheduled with Judy from Crab Island Cantina to finalize our plans. We got there about noon and finished about 1 pm. Everything is coming together. It will be a wedding to remember. But now it was early, the weather was perfect and we had nothing on the agenda. We decided to walk to Harbor Gifts and see how they are doing and to check out our tee’s they are selling. On the way there we passed Fishhead’s. Becca was working. We said hello but we had to keep going.

At Harbor Gifts Sandy was there. It was her first day back at work since the weekend. She was fighting the crud. They have the shirts hanging outside and they look great. Everyone needs to get down to their shop next to the Shark Shack and spend some money with Tom and Sandy.

Sandy of Harbor Gifts

We left there and walked up the hill to The Crust Pizzeria. Charlie was not there but we grabbed a beer and sat outside. A few minutes later Matt and his son Ace came walking up. They saw us earlier on the docks and tracked us down. We ended up sharing some pizza and cheese bread. We had a chance to get caught up as we had not seen Matt other than a minute here or there for many months. It was a nice visit.

Where to next? We walked down to the Boathouse. Kerby was there with a couple of other guys. Sunshine Cindy and I sat outside on the deck but some dark clouds were building. I checked the radar and a line of storms were heading our way. Since we were parked at the other end of the harbor, we decided to walk back. As we were leaving Matt and Ace came by on their way home. Ace loves to cut up with Kerby. At one point Ace went running up to Kerby and tried to belly-buck him. Ace ended up on his back. But like any kid, he jumped up and tried it again. LOL

Sushi at Jackacuda's

It was really getting dark now so we took off. Halfway back to AJ’s it started to rain. Luckily it was not too hard so we didn’t have to duck in anywhere. Our destination was the new Jackacuda’s restaurant. We got there and sat at the outside bar. They didn’t change this bar and we were glad to see that. Jason was working the bar. This place is locally owned. They use all fresh caught fish and they have a fantastic Sushi Chef. I tried one of the Sushi Rolls and loved it. It’s about time someone opened a Sushi Bar on the harbor. A tourist from Louisiana named Kevin sat down next to us. We ended up talking to him for a couple of hours. He was an interesting person.

As we were getting to leave I got a message from Wayne saying he and Kenny were heading to the Boathouse before they went back to Juana’s for Southern Drawl Bands Friday night show. We decided to meet them there. A big crowd of folks were there as Jason Clark was starting to play inside. We got a table outside. Kenny, Wayne and Tommy joined us. Then Brian and his brother from Wisconsin, Greg walked in and also joined us. The party was on. Gigi came around with some Jello Shots, other friends came and went. Yes, it was another good time at the Boathouse.

Kenny, Wayne and Tommy left to go to Navarre and Sunshine Cindy and I called it a day/night shortly thereafter. It turns out we missed a good time at Juana’s. Kenny got on stage with the band and played his harmonica on a few songs. Way to go Kenny!!!

Saturday was more low key. We had lunch at Friday’s in Destin. Other than that Sunshine Cindy did some shopping while I did some writing for the upcoming Crab Island Mambo Mullet Wrapper newsletter. It was also officially announced that starting in 2015 Sunshine Cindy and I will be taking over Phlocking of the Phaithful. This is a Trop Rock party in Put in Bay, Ohio each June. We look forward to keeping the party tradition going.

Sunday was another quiet day for us. It was raining on and off which made for a lazy day. It was good as I was able to get more Mambo work done. Finally in the afternoon I was ready to get out for a while. Sunshine Cindy wanted to stay in but went out to run some errands. I decided to make a stop at Landshark Pizza but they were not open yet. I forgot they open later on Sunday’s now that football is over. I went over to Island Wings instead.

Minnesota in the house...

They bake their wings which is healthier but I don’t think they taste as good as the deep fried ones. Next time I will go back to their Jalapeno chili. That is some of the best chili in town. I should have had it this time. I had an interesting girl sit a few stools down from me. She was probably only about 21 or 22. She was dressed kind of funky. She ordered some food then got on the phone with someone. I could hear her cussing left and right about something. After she hung up she got up, looked at me and told me she was just going to her car to get something. I said “ok” with a WTH look on my face. She mumbled something about she thought I would want to know. Not like I worked there or anything.

A few minutes later another girl came in and joined the first one. Turns out the first girls was upset about a new tattoo she got thinking it was not done right. No matter what her friend said she would not believe it. I don’t know what the tat was but I was tempted to tell her don’t worry because in 15 years or so it will be so washed out it won’t matter! I kept quiet though. I headed home when I was done and relaxed with Sunshine Cindy for the rest of the evening.

Have a great week. See ya’ll Thursday!!!

Late again…

Well, it seems like this is becoming a regular occurrence on Thursday’s being late getting the blog out. I had good reason for this one being late. We made a road trip to Navarre to listen to our good friends with Southern Drawl Band play at Juana’s. What a fun night we had. The weather was perfect so all the sides were down in the Pagoda. A big crowd of folks were there the entire time. We had a good group of Mambo’ians make the trip there….Wayne, Julie, Suzanne, Judie, Kelly and Kenny all drove over.

Southern Drawl Band last Sunday at Crab Island Cantina

While we were there, Lynley and Robbie, the Calypso Nuts came in. They live about 2 miles from Juana’s and they stopped in for a while to listen to the music. You will be seeing and hearing more updates on them as they are now a part of the Mambo family too. We even ran into an old Parrot Head friend, Carol. She moved away to Alaska years ago but was in town for a few days and we just happened to run into her. Small world.

Lynley and Robbie

With a younger spring break crowd the band played music geared to a younger audience. And the crowd ate it up. They are at Juana’s the rest of the weekend. Get over to see them if you can.

The rest of the week had Sunshine Cindy and I going to Sago on Tuesday night to wind down after a tough day at work. Tommy was there keeping everyone working. Izzy took care of us. I was happy as they had hockey on several of their TV’s. Tuesday’s is dollar draft day at Sago. We love that

Kelly is ready for more beach time

Wednesday we ran some errands after work. Sunshine Cindy and I ended up at Landshark Pizza for their wing night. Wings are just $.59 each. That is a great deal for the best wings in town. Brian, Sue, Jonelle, and Glen were at a table as we walked in. Paige, Holly and Jason were working. Paige is only days from having her baby. She is ready to start this “Mother” phase of her life. Not too long after we got there, B came in and joined us for the evening. He is owner of Paradise Paper and will be supplying us some special plastic glasses for our wedding. B is a lot of fun and a great guy.

We ended up staying pretty late. About the time we were getting ready to leave a group of folks came in. It was Barry and Sami with some friends. It’s been a while since we saw Barry. Sami came to our Trop Rock Music Series show at the Cantina but it was great seeing them both again. Finally, we called it a night and headed home.

The Destin Harbor from the Lookout Bar at Margaritaville

Sunshine Cindy and I don’t have any major plans for the weekend. No telling where you might see us around town! Enjoy your weekend! See ya Monday!
