We had great weather this weekend. These are the days we
love living here. It started Thursday night when Sunshine Cindy and I went to
Sago Sports Bar to relax a little. The college hockey frozen four was on the
TV’s as we sat at the bar. Shannon was working the bar. Tommy was there too. We
had a fun time at Sago as always. With $2 drafts on Thursday and their usual
good food, you can’t go wrong. We also heard the Ron Adams show on Wednesday
was a big success as they had a full house.
Harry T's
Friday was a Parrot Head meeting night on the harbor.
Sunshine Cindy and I got down to the harbor early and parked by the Boathouse
then walked down to Harry T’s. We made a stop at the Shark Shack and Harbor
Gifts. Sandy was at Harbor Gifts and had our Mambo shirts out on display. James
and Bruce were at the Shark Shack. We talked to them for a while then headed to
Harry T’s. Harry T’s was giving the PH’s free beer. It was green beer but it
was free! Actually Sunshine Cindy and I didn’t have any of it. For some reason
it did not look appealing. LOL
A big crowd was there for the fun. A different duo was
singing. We had not heard them before but they were good. Their name escapes me
but I hope they are invited back. As this party was winding down a group
decided to head to the Boathouse. Sunshine Cindy and I got down to the street
level and saw some old neighbors of Sunshine Cindy’s sitting at Dave’s Dogs
bar. Dave’s Dogs is now owned by Harry T’s. We also saw Michelle working this
bar. I was glad to see this as Michelle is the April Mambo Bartender of the
Month but I needed some pictures. Mission accomplished!
Ejay and Tom
At the Boathouse the place was packed. Jason Clark was
singing. It took a while but we were able to eventually get a couple of tables
for everyone to sit at. We had some Parrot Head friends from out of town join
us. Tom and Ejay were passing through town. Wayne brought them to the
Boathouse. I last saw them in Put in Bay last June. They are great people.
Originally from the Cleveland area they are now traveling around in an RV. It
was nice seeing them and letting them get a glimpse of Destin!
Some of the folks left to head to KC’s Sandbar in Ft. Walton
Beach to hear the Michael Allman band. Michael is the son of Gregg Allman. They
packed KC’s. Good for them. Meanwhile back at the Boathouse Jason kept the
crowd going. He even had Austin Jennings do a song as Austin stopped in for a
while. Austin has a great voice and is playing all over Destin now. Finally it
was time to head home to wind down the night.
Wayne and Sunshine Cindy
Saturday was a laid back day. Sunshine Cindy went shopping
while I fine tuned the Crab Island Mambo Mullet Wrapper newsletter. I will be
publishing later tonight. We had a surprise party to go to later. The surprise
was on us! I was told we had to be at a friend’s house at 6:15 pm and don’t
tell Sunshine Cindy anything about it. It turns out our friends had a surprise
wedding shower party planned. We were blown away when we pulled up and about 30
of our closest friends were there. Wow! It was a fun evening of food and
drinks. We can’t thank our friends enough! We love them all!!!
Sunday was another perfect day. The top was down on Badass.
We met Sunshine Cindy’s parents for lunch at Friday’s. From there we went to
the harbor. Wayne joined us. We made a first stop at Crab Island Cantina. Judy
told us about a big party they had the night before. It was a bunch of college
students from Louisiana. She said they were well behaved and had a good time.
We then stopped at Jackacuda’s sitting on their new outside deck.
Harbor Gifts new coasters with Destin landmarks on them
Our next stop was Fishheads. Melisa was working. She is the
co-owner and a real nice lady. She told us about the night before when some guy
was tripping out thinking he was hearing voices or something. Security was
called to take care of him. Matt came up behind me grabbing me. He saw us
walking up to Fishheads as he works in the building next door booking fishing
charters. From there we walked to the Shark Shack. Becca was working the bar.
Sandy came over from Harbor Gifts to join us for a while. Matt came over here
too and had us all cracking up with his jokes.
Becca and a puppy at Shark Shack
We got to talking about one of the local homeless drunks,
Red Dog. Matt talked about the time a one legged guy beat the crap out of Red
Dog pummeling him with his fake leg. Matt can turn any story into something
that will have you rolling in laughter. Finally we decided to make one more
stop at Landshark Pizza for some food. Jason, Austin and Sue were working.
Brian was there with Pops and Tommy watching the end of the Masters. After some
good food it was time to head home and end another Sunday Funday!
Have a great week. See ya Thursday!!!
