Destin Margaritaville about to open

We have had a slow week in Destin. Sunshine Cindy and I have been working on wedding plans so we have not been out since the Super Bowl on Sunday. Besides the weather continues to be strange. We have had thick fog for the first few days of the week with some rain showers blowing through. Then it turned cold again last night. It got back down into the 30’s. It will warm up quickly but I am totally over cold weather. I am ready for 90 degree days!!!

Destin Margaritaville

The continuing saga of Margaritaville finally opening their doors is getting closer to coming to a conclusion. Starting next Wednesday they will be holding practice sessions for their staff using invited guest to come in and order food and drinks. The sessions will go on for four days. I was lucky enough to get an invitation for us. We will be there the following Saturday to help them get up to speed. I am not sure how I got invited but I must be on some list. Or maybe they have been reading this blog and thought they had to have us there! LOL

We are getting closer to spring break starting. It usually gets going around the first week of March. Help wanted signs are popping up. Places that were closed for the winter season are starting to open back up. The charter boat captains are getting their boats ready for the upcoming season. The new restaurant in Harborwalk Village, Jackacudas is almost ready to open. Before long we will have big crowds back in town. Most of the real rowdy crowd is in Panama City Beach but the last few years we have had big crowds of kids in the Miramar Beach area. It will be interesting to see if they are back this year.

We have heard that one of our favorite bartenders has moved to a new location. Dominic is now at Cuvee Beach. We will need to get over there to see him. Cuvee Beach is on Hwy. 98 just east of the Commons. If you get over that way, stop in and say hi to Dom!

Friday night is the All Sports Banquet at the Convention Center on the Island. This is a fundraising event for the YMCA, Boys and Girls clubs and the Special Olympics in our area. I am lucky to have my company sponsor a table so I get to go each year. It is a fun time with a lot of sports stars in attendance. This year Kirk Herbstreit is the Keynote speaker. The highlight of the night is the announcement of the winner of the Danny Wuerffel award. This has become a prestigious award that is coveted by college football players. I am looking forward to another great evening.

Ready for the summer!

With this cold weather, don’t forget we have American Made Crab Island Mambo long sleeve shirts available. Get you one or ten to “Embrace the Chaos!” with us!!! http://www.crabislandmambo.com/Crab-Island-Mambo-Merchandise.html

Get out and have a fun weekend. See ya on Monday!
