Destin Life

Sunshine Cindy and I love living in Destin. It really is a small town where everyone knows everyone else. There is so much going on all the time you don’t know what to do first sometimes. This past weekend was a perfect example.

Thursday Sunshine Cindy helped Tiffany get moved. When she was ready to come home the battery in her car was dead. Sunshine Cindy was hot and tired so I decided that we would go jump it off Friday morning and get it replaced. We went out to Outback for dinner. We got there just before they got busy. The food was good and we had an enjoyable time.

Friday we jumped the car and got the battery replaced. We then stopped at Landshark Pizza for a beer and a light lunch. Brian, Sue, JD and Freddie were all there. We love our Landshark family. Friday evening we went to the harbor. We were meeting Wayne and a mystery guest of his. We meet up at Harry T’s. Turns out the mystery guest was the daughter of a musician friend of ours. She was traveling around the country and stayed at Wayne’s condo for a few days. We had a great meal at Harry T’s. We sat right at the water’s edge. It was a beautiful evening.

Sunshine Cindy and Casey at Harry T's

There was going to be a surprise birthday party for Capt. John Friday night at the Legion. Steve and Dottie were keeping Capt. John busy at the Boathouse while others were at the Legion setting up. They needed our help to get him headed towards the Legion so after dinner we walked down there. The Boathouse was pretty busy but we were able to convince Capt. John to head to the Legion. Once there a ton of friends were waiting. John had no idea. It was a blast at the Legion with Karaoke and good friends.

Saturday morning we did a lot of Mambo work. The musical lineup for next year’s Put in Bay Phlocking of the Phaithful Trop Rock party is all set. We will be announcing the lineup in a few weeks and open registration at that time too. When we got done with all that we headed back down to the harbor. As we were driving Steve and Dottie called. They were boating over so we all met up at the Boathouse. Bree and Paige were working. Gigi came by and talked to us. We feel like family there. A bunch of folks were coming in off boats and having a good time. The oysters were being shucked and folks were eating them up.

Ike at Crab Island Cantina

Steve and Dottie got back in their boat to head back across the bay. Sunshine Cindy and I walked down to Crab Island Cantina but we made a stop at Fishheads first. Melissa was working. We chatted with her for a while. At Crab Island Cantina Ike was playing music. He is a Destin legion. It seems like he has been around here forever. Carlos stopped by and talked to us. Judy also greeted us. Rosily was behind the bar. We feel like family there too.

Gunner at The Boathouse

Gunner was playing at The Boathouse in the evening so we decided to stop back down there for a while to listen to them. Well, that turned into all night. Wayne and Casey, Kenny, Tommy and a cast of hundreds were there. It was hot and no air was moving but it was still a lot of fun. Finally when the band was done it was time to head home.

Sunday was a quiet day. We did go to lunch at Longhorns. It was funny but as we sat down Cajun Mike and Corlee were in the booth right behind us. There is that small town thing again. The lunch was good but that was the extent of our travels for Sunday. It was time to get ready for the work week.

Enjoy your week. See ya Thursday!
